Reiki & healing

Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing. I’m trained to Level 2 which means I can give in-person and distant healing. I belong to the traditional Usui lineage and was attuned over 20 years ago.

Many mainstream health organisations recommend Reiki as a helpful form of complementary therapy. Reiki is often offered in hospitals, hospices, care homes and wellbeing centres, where the healing sessions can help reduce emotional stress in difficult situations along with aiding deep relaxation and calming symptoms of anxiety.

Reiki is a non-invasive form of treatment and is suitable for everyone. There is no need to remove clothing and it can be performed with hands on or off the body.

Reiki Healing Session

Encourages deep relax

Can relieve emotional stress

Can aid better sleep and relaxation

Helpful when coping with difficult situations

Improves general mood and wellbeing

The word Reiki means ‘universal energy’ and is the same flow of energy that the Chinese refer to as ‘Chi’, the Japanese refer to as ‘Ki and in India it’s known as ‘Prana’. The Maya called it ‘Chu’lel’ which translates as ‘life force’. Reiki healers act as a channel for this energy and help to focus it so it flows through you and to the places in the body, mind and spirit that needs it.

Because we are talking about energy, we are also talking about something that can transcend time and space. It is possible to send healing distantly, and more interestingly, it is possible to send healing back or forward in time.

Personalised Spiritual Healing

Along with Reiki, I work with a drum, a Sound Nest, a Tibetan bell, a flute and various rattles to enhance your healing session and add another dimension. Healing sessions can be uplifting and energising helping to shift stagnant energy or more calming and relaxing allowing you to go deeper. Using guided meditation if appropriate, sound, smell and plant medicine can all be incorporated to your healing session. This may include incense, flower remedies, aromatherapy, herbal tea or cacao.  Sessions last 2 hours and can include a mix of techniques personalised to your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Reiki and Healing
The Consultation

The beauty of Reiki is that there is very little consultation needed. You’ll fill in a short form, and of course, we can talk about anything you feel is relevant to treatment. Because Reiki goes where it’s needed, and there is no risk involved, it’s not always nessecary to discuss things in great detail.

All I actually need is your permission to send you healing and, if applicable, lay my hands on your body. Direct contact is not required, so I can also perform the treatment with hands off the body and virtually through video link.

If you are booking a Personalised Healing Session then we will need to meet for an online consultation to discuss what your session will look like. Alternatively, you can leave me to devise an appropriate session for your needs. Online consultation will take 30-60 mins over video call.

Online Reiki

There are not many conditions that are completely contraindicated, in almost all cases, the treatment can be adapted to suit your needs.

Treatment is not recommended in the following situations:

First trimester of pregnancy, acute infections or illness, skin infections, fever or flu.

I need to know if you’re taking prescription medications regularly, the dosage and what they are. This is to keep you safe. Being on medication doesn’t rule out aromatherapy but it will change how strong the oil blend is and what oils I choose.

If you use aromatherapy at home, shop bought, home made or from another aromatherapist, please let me know.

The Treatment

When you arrive we will go straight to my therapy room upstairs. Please wear a mask until you are on the massage table (if required by current Covid guidelines).

You’ll need to remove your shoes and anything else uncomfortable or bulky. It’s a good idea to wear comfortable loose clothing, and bring and extra pair of socks to keep your feet warm.

The treatment will last around 45 mins however please allow an hour for your session.

Lying fully clothed on my massage couch, I will use techniques such as aura scanning and brushing, along with the healing treatment itself. I can work over the body, where no touch is involved, or, if preferred, I can lay hands directly onto the body in various locations from head to toe. Each hand placement stays in places for a few minutes. Areas that need extra attention will be given extra time.

Your healing session may take place in my therapy room, but it’s also possible that we may go out into the garden for all or part of it.

Personalised sessions will be crafted just for you and may take place indoors our outside depending of weather and your needs.

How to prepare

You can prepare for your Reiki or healing session by avoiding heavy meals, wearing comfortable clothing and scheduling a bit more time after your session for yourself.

If you feel the cold, you may want to bring a pair of warm socks to wear or your favourite blanket to cosy into during your session.

Aftercare

Reiki and healing can sometimes shift emotions and unblock energy flows within the body.

It is common after treatments to experience a ‘healing crisis’.

A healing crisis is often described as things getting worse before they get better. You may experience strong emotions, a rise or change in energy, more insight or a shift inside yourself. On the whole, treatments tend to leave my clients feeling refreshed and more clear, relaxed and more focused in daily life, however for some it may release emotions that have been locked away. If this happens, please seek support from a therapist, close friend, support group or your GP. You can of course always message me and I’d be happy to chat with you about your experiences.

It is recommended to drink plenty of water and urinate often, eat fresh healthy foods and get plenty of rest and sleep after your session.

If you are concerned about anything after a treatment, please contact me.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no rule regarding Reiki and healing. Sessions of Reiki may be more beneficial if had regularly, however, some people prefer to come for healing when they feel they need it.

Personalised sessions, or course of sessions can be arranged to facilitate a deeper level of healing. Number of sessions would be agreed between us and each session can be tailord to meet your needs.
